Work for the Immigration Project

From September 2018 through January 2020 I worked as Volunteer and Development Coordinator for the Immigration Project, a small nonprofit in central Illinois that provides legal services to low income immigrants throughout the region. I wore many hats for this role (volunteer coordinator, fundraiser, event planner, tech assistant…) but as the one person at the organization with graphic design experience, I spent a substantial amount of time designing publicity materials for print, web, and social media. I ended up formalizing the brand design guidelines for the organization and created a number of reusable assets for future staff use.

Here is a sample of some of the materials I designed, including a graphic for Facebook, the 2019 annual report, an invitation for a fundraiser luncheon, and a half-page handout with organizational information handed out at a different fundraiser.

An ongoing design challenge was the fact that the organization could not afford high end design software like Adobe Creative Cloud, and any materials meant to be editable for future purposes had to be created using the programs the organization had on hand. The annual report was designed entirely within Microsoft Publisher, and the handout with statistics was created using Canva.
